Freshuelva and Huelva Provincial Council have renewed their partnership agreement for the 11th International Berry Congress, which will take place on 17 and 18 June at Casa Colón in Huelva. With this agreement, the provincial council is once again backing an event that is firmly established as the leading international forum for the analysis, debate and promotion of a sector that is strategic for Huelva’s economy.
The President of Huelva Provincial Council, David Toscano, emphasised that “the International Berry Congress has become one of the finest showcases for our province’s productive, innovative and export capabilities”. Toscano also emphasised that “Huelva is now a global benchmark in berry production and this Congress plays a decisive role in reinforcing that leading position, generating business opportunities, knowledge exchange and international visibility for the entire sector”.
For his part, the president of Freshuelva, Francisco José Gómez, expressed his gratitude for the Provincial Council’s continued support, noting that “since the very first edition, we have had the backing of an institution that has always understood the importance of the soft fruit sector for the economic and social development of our province”. Gómez highlighted that the Congress “will once again bring together professionals, companies, researchers and institutions from different countries in Huelva to analyse the main challenges and opportunities that will shape the future of the sector”.
The Huelva Provincial Council’s involvement will go beyond institutional support and will also be reflected in the conference’s official programme. Specifically, the Provincial Councillor for Social Services, Drug Addiction and Social Welfare, Carmen Díaz Soriano, will take part on Thursday 18 June in the round-table discussion entitled ‘Social Responsibility and Local Development’, a session dedicated to analysing the social impact of the soft fruit industry both in the province of Huelva and in the countries of origin of the workers recruited there.

This session will address initiatives relating to circular migration and their impact on regions such as Honduras, as well as projects supporting entrepreneurship among Moroccan women recruited in their home countries, highlighting the social and human dimension of a sector that has become a European benchmark not only for its productive capacity, but also for its commitment to development and integration.
The 11th International Berry Congress will once again bring together producers, marketers, ancillary businesses, researchers and institutional representatives at Casa Colón for a comprehensive programme of conferences, panel discussions and professional activities focusing on issues such as innovation, sustainability, the opening of new markets and the promotion of healthy lifestyles linked to the consumption of berries.
Having attracted more than 1,700 professionals at its last edition, the Congress is still accepting registrations and exhibition space bookings via its official website: www.congresofrutosrojos.com
