The International Berry Congress is celebrating its 10th edition with a special programme, which will be opened by Manu Sánchez and closed by Pablo Ojeda

The 10th International Berry Congress, organised by Freshuelva, will take place on 18 and 19 June at the Casa Colón in Huelva, featuring a commemorative programme that will reinforce the event’s role as a national and international hub for the berry sector.

The opening address will be given by comedian and presenter Manu Sánchez on Wednesday 18th at 9.00 am. A native of Dos Hermanas (Seville), Manu Sánchez is a renowned comedian, actor, presenter and entrepreneur with over two decades’ experience in television, theatre and radio. He has presented programmes such as ‘La semana más larga’ and ‘Tierra de talento’ on Canal Sur, and has contributed to shows such as ‘La ventana’ on Cadena SER. In 2024, he received the Iris Award for Best Regional Presenter for his work on ‘Somos Música’. His talk, entitled ‘It’s Not Over’, will kick off a very special edition that will address the sector’s current challenges, its international reach and its strategic role as an ally of healthy eating.

On the same day, at 12 noon, the main event of the Congress will take place, celebrating the tenth anniversary of this event with the presentation of the Fresa Awards, which will be announced in the coming days and recognise the work of individuals, organisations and initiatives committed to the development, innovation and prestige of the soft fruit sector.

The conference will close on Thursday 19th at 12.30 pm with a talk by the renowned science communicator and senior dietetics specialist Pablo Ojeda, entitled “Sowing health: how berries can lead the way in tomorrow’s diet”. This presentation is sponsored by Gusto del Sur, a quality brand of the Regional Government of Andalusia, and co-funded by the Andalusia ERDF Programme 2021–2027. Pablo Ojeda, born in Seville in 1982, is a member of the Spanish Society for the Study of Obesity and a specialist in obesity and eating disorders. He appears on television programmes such as ‘Más vale tarde’ on La Sexta and is the author of several books on healthy eating, including ‘Comida, vamos a llevarnos bien’.

The 10th International Berry Congress will feature, as in previous editions, a comprehensive programme of technical conferences, panel discussions and an exhibition area, in which leading companies in agricultural inputs, technology, logistics and marketing will participate.

With over 1,700 attendees at the last event, the 10th International Red Berries Congress is still accepting bookings for exhibition spaces, whilst registration for the congress opens this Friday, 23 May, and can be completed via www.congresofrutosrojos.com.
